Annual Meeting + Visit to All Saints, Norton Fitzwarren
Saturday, 17 May 2025, 2pm-4.30pm
- Annual Meeting at South West Heritage Centre
- Visit All Saints, Norton Fitzwarren
- Heritage Centre for tea and a look behind the scenes.
Somerset Churches Trust covers a large county and we are conscious that holding annual meetings in Wells on a November evening does not suit every one (even those in Wells!). So, this year, we are taking the ‘show’ on the road, so to speak. Thanks to the good offices of Bob Croft, we will be able to meet at South West Heritage Centre in Norton Fitzwarren. After refreshments and the (short?) formal meeting, Bob has arranged for us to visit All Saints, Norton Fitzwarren. The church is not generally open, so this promises to be a real treat. (14 mins walk / short drive)
For our crawls, we like to have a ‘knowledgable person’ to guide us and, apart from Bob who certainly fits that description, he has arranged for Michael and Cynthia Hicks to look after us. Michael most definitely can be described as ‘knowledgable’, being an historian of late medieval England, especially the nobility and the Wars of the Roses, and has written about all the Yorkist kings. He is Professor Emeritus at Winchester University with an extensive list of publications to his credit.
Assuming we can tear ourselves away and retraced our steps, tea beckons at the Heritage Centre, followed by a tour. We aim to finish by 4.30.
Meeting at 2pm:
South West Heritage Trust, Somerset Heritage Centre, Brunel Way,
Norton Fitzwarren, Taunton, Somerset. TA2 6 SF
